Capcom says Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen launches October 9, 2026, and its director is Kento Kinoshita, whose first job in that chair was the original Dark Arisen in 2013. The expansion for Capcom’s 2024 action RPG costs $29.99 on Steam and arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S the same day. Steam’s store page reads October 8, which is a time zone matter. Capcom’s launch post on Tuesday carries a map of local release times.
A name like Dark Arisen is an inheritance, and Capcom knows it. The 2013 edition came out that April on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and added Bitterblack Isle, a punishing endgame dungeon thick with lore. It is the part of the first game people still bring up. Hideaki Itsuno directed the original Dragon’s Dogma and returned for the sequel in March 2024. Kinoshita, who had worked on the first game, made a directing debut on the expansion. By Capcom’s count, the original and Dark Arisen have sold 9.5 million copies between them.
What Norgan adds to the family estate
This heir gets a province of its own. Dark Arisen adds Norgan, an icy northern region whose story turns darker partway through. Its enemies include Norgan variants of familiar monsters and new creatures built on new skeletons. Capcom’s main trailer from September introduces Norgan’s story and those new enemies.
Twelve new dungeons are tucked into the existing map as well. Norgan also brings Relic Appraisal, a system that hands out weapons, armor and skills with random stats. “There aren’t any brand-new Vocations,” Kinoshita said in a July Q&A with producer Naoto Oyama. The studio went for depth instead. Title Update 3.2, the free patch from early September, raised weapon skill slots from four to six, so every class has room for two more ideas.
Main game updates continue after launch. The first one Capcom names is Hard Mode, aimed at players whose characters sit at or near the level cap. It has no date yet; the launch post promises details and a release window later.
Inheritances are judged by what the heir does with them, and Kinoshita has handled this one before. I will say nothing about Norgan’s story beyond what Capcom has shown. The rest is yours on Friday.
