Apog Labs and publisher Shueisha Games announced on October 7 that ATMOSFAR enters Early Access on October 29, 2026, with online co-op for up to four players. It comes to PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and no price has been announced. The Steam page says nothing about dedicated servers or crossplay, only that multiplayer needs an internet connection. Those are the first two questions our server channel will ask.
How a flying base splits a crew of four
ATMOSFAR is a survival game set in the sky over Tycos, a remote alien planet. You fly between floating islands, scavenge scrap, build and upgrade your aircraft, and try to learn what happened to humanity’s furthest outpost. The aircraft are called Wasps: the Utility Wasp sets down a mobile camp, the Hauler Wasp airlifts heavy scrap, and the Fighter Wasp is the fast one. Above all of them sits the Cloud Cruiser, a huge airbase you customize and fly. You still land and head out on foot, through thunderstorms, jet streams and the local wildlife.
That list reads like a job board. One person moves the Cruiser, one hauls scrap, one runs ahead in the Fighter, and one stays on the island with the loot. The line that matters most for a group is the Steam page’s note that friends can “hitch a ride on a friend’s Wasp” or fly in formation. It means a new player can ride along before taking the stick.
Olof Kindblad, Head of Studio at Apog Labs, wants ATMOSFAR to stand “proudly alongside other greats” of survival games. That shelf holds Valheim and Subnautica, so it is a tall one, but a base that flies is a genuine reason to be considered for it.
The Early Access plan on the store page is clear. It runs for at least nine months, and the opening build includes two regions, three Wasps and the complete Cloud Cruiser. Version 1.0 adds a third region called The Rime, a Scout Wasp, more Cruiser building and the end of the story. Apog aims to keep saves working through Early Access, and the price goes up slightly before 1.0.
Apog Labs is an independent studio in Malmö, Sweden, and its last game was Airport CEO, a management simulation on Steam since 2021. Going from runways to flight sticks is quite a jump. ATMOSFAR got its 2026 window and its publisher at PC Gaming Show 2025, as Game*Spark reported, and it held the year.
Adds it to the Friday poll for October 29. Somebody still needs to ask about servers before four of us buy it.
