Total Mayhem Games released We Were Here Tomorrow on October 20, and it is out now. It is the sixth game in the Rotterdam studio’s series about two people who cannot see each other’s half of the puzzle. It costs $19.99 on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a 10% launch discount that runs until November 3 on Steam. Crossplay works across all three from launch.
In 2023 the studio put out We Were Here Expeditions: The Friendship. The series started with the free We Were Here in 2017, then Too, Together and Forever, the last of those in 2022. The studio says the games have reached more than 25 million players, and Total Mayhem has grown to 40-plus developers along the way. That is a lot of people for games where two players mostly talk into walkie-talkies.
If you have never played one, the setup is the same each time. You and a partner are split up, and each of you sees a different part of the world. The only way through is to describe what you see out loud, so the walkie-talkie is the whole interface. This time two Explorers wake up inside Norček Industries, a research facility from an imagined 1980s, and each carries a different high-tech tool. The puzzles bend time, gravity and space, according to the studio.
The story is by Claire North, and the new cast includes Sophie Okonedo, Connor Colquhoun, Boris Hiestand and Elena Saurel. For the first time in the series, there is voice acting in Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese and Spanish (LATAM). Steam lists 16 languages in all.
Early players are split. Steam shows Mixed, 65% positive from 171 user reviews as of October 21. It is co-op only, and both players need a microphone and an internet connection. The store page does not say whether each player needs their own copy, so check before you send the link to your partner. Steam also sells a $6.99 Fan Edition add-on, and the page does not say what is in it.
Find your puzzle partner first, then read the newest Steam reviews before the launch discount ends on November 3.
