Hey, Gamer! This page covers what GamesFinity and the companies behind our ads and analytics collect when you visit, and what you can do about it. You can read everything on the site without an account. GamesFinity is run by Adam Frick in the United States, and privacy questions go to support@gamesfinity.com.
What you give us
If you leave a comment, we keep the name, email address, and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser details. Your name and comment show publicly, and your email address never does. Akismet, a spam filter from Automattic, checks each comment. If you have a Gravatar, WordPress may show that picture next to your name.
If you email us or use our contact form, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you.
Cookies, analytics, and ads
We use Google Analytics to see which stories people read and how they find us. It uses cookies and records the pages you view, your general location, and the kind of device you use. Google explains the rest on its page about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Ads on GamesFinity come from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or other sites. Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to GamesFinity and other sites on the internet.
The trailers in our articles are embedded from YouTube, which Google owns. YouTube may set cookies when you load or play a video.
Our host, WPMU DEV, counts page views with IP addresses anonymized. It also logs IP addresses to block attacks on the site. Some page code and images load from Google’s and WPMU DEV’s servers, and those servers see your IP address when they send them.
Your choices
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, a message asks for your consent before ad and analytics cookies are used. You can accept, decline, or choose by purpose. You can change your answer later with the “Privacy and cookie settings” link at the bottom of the page.
If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you will see an option to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We don’t sell information for money. Some state laws count ad cookies as selling or sharing, so the option is there.
Anyone can turn off personalized ads from Google in Ads Settings. You can opt out of many other ad companies at aboutads.info, or at Your Online Choices in Europe. Google also offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics, and every major browser lets you block or delete cookies.
Who else handles your information
These companies process data for GamesFinity, and each one has its own privacy policy:
- Google, for Analytics, AdSense, and YouTube: Google Privacy Policy
- WPMU DEV (Incsub, LLC), for hosting, image delivery, and site security: WPMU DEV Privacy Policy
- Automattic, for Akismet and Gravatar: Automattic Privacy Policy
We share your information only with these companies and Google’s ad partners, or when the law requires it. They may process it in the United States and other countries.
How long we keep it
Comments stay up until they are removed, and you can ask us to remove yours. Emails stay in our inbox as long as we need them to answer you. Google Analytics deletes detailed data after the period set in our account, which is never more than 14 months. Our host keeps security logs of IP addresses for up to 7 days unless an attack is still going on.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email support@gamesfinity.com and we will answer within a month. If you gave consent through our cookie message, you can withdraw it at any time.
For visitors in Europe, we rely on your consent for ad and analytics cookies. Comments, spam filtering, site security, and answering email rely on our legitimate interest in running the site. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Kids
GamesFinity is not aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
