Star Wars: The Old Republic Going Free-To-Play

The sci-fi MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic will be going free-to-play on the 15th this month. Hopefully, this will add to the SWTOR community and increase its diminishing player activity. All the features of the previous paid accounts will be given to free users. This includes an expansion up to the level 50 class storyline cap that everyone has. Despite this, new content will still be added to the game at the previous rate.

The players who paid previously for a subscription account will be given some compensation: in-game coins used in a new store system. That’s right: along with free-to-play status comes the obligatory real-money store system familiar to most MMO players. It’s called the ‘Cartel Market.’ To determine the amount of ‘Complementary Cartel Coins,’ go here and log in. For more information on the Cartel Coins, and the Rewards Program (for subscribers) that’s happening until December 20th at 11:59 AM CDT, go here.
