Minecraft Sells 8 Million Hard Copies

When many raised an eyebrow to the announcement that the already hot selling game Minecraft was coming to retail stores like Target and Best Buy, most didn’t expect any serious success. Well they were all proven wrong when just recently the numbers show that Minecraft has sold over 8 million units thus far, bringing more success to an already successful game. Leave it to Markus Notch Persson to tweet his mind about the sales, saying, “My face is making grinning sounds, so I assume it’s grinning.”

This success should have been expected when looking at the success of Minecraft on other platforms. So far, the Xbox 360 version has seen sales of over 4 million sold since launch back in May, brining $80 million in revenue. Even the feature light mobile version has sold over 700,000 copies since it launch in January.

Congratulation goes to Mojang and Notch today.
